Run away from the bombs into the mysterious cavern beneath the shelter. Made your way through the procedurally generated dungeon and met different people there. Go as far as you can before you run out of guts and get completely scared.

DISCLAIMER:

This is an early prototype and not much of a game, to be honest. I had this idea to make a rogue-lite game in Bitsy and just ran with it to see what I can do. Hope you'll enjoy this short experience!

P.S.: as of now the game has no win state, you just go as far as you could until your character runs out of guts or until the game runs out of rooms.

It's always great to see people pushing Bitsy to new types of genre and gameplay. I really enjoyed this! Such a innovative idea and presented in a great way.

I really like the art as well, particularly the parts where you dropping down through the caverns alone. It felt very atomspheric.

Thanks!

I really appreciate your praise. Makes me want to invest more time into this game and get my initial idea fully realized.

I'm glad to hear that!

Do you have any further plans for the game at the moment?

Not plans, but some ideas.

I want to add different "bioms" with different tilesets, quests and mechanics, add some permanent progress features and some actual story. Not sure when I'll be able to do any of this, though.

They sound like cool ideas!

I'd be interested on checking out the new ideas some day, though please don't push yourself too much! šŸ˜ƒ

Hi Valeriy, this game is really cool! It doesnā€™t feel like a prototype to me, as a Bitsy game it feels like a complete game :)

If you want to make something bigger Iā€™d fancy things like unlocking new classes (one with a keys bonus, one with a guts bonus) and, after reaching the end, unlocking new dungeons with different environments and stories to explore. My favorites rogue-like games are: ā€œ1-bit Rogueā€ and ā€œCardinal Quest 2ā€ if you like a reference for my favorite unlocking systems.

Wish you all the best of luck!

P.s. The ā€œrandom featureā€ is a standard Bitsy feature or is it a hack?

Glad you've enjoyed my game!

Some of these things definitely crossed my mind when I was working on this prototype. Unlocking new dungeons after reaching milestones is definitely the thing I want to add in the future, however, this might be somewhat finicky due to the engine limitations. Nevertheless, thanks for the ideas and references!

Answering your question: yes, randomness is a standard feature in Bitsy. I've done it through the shuffle lists tool, which basically allows you to add a bunch of different scripts in one list, and then the game will choose them at random.

Hey Valeriy! Really nice game. I am a journalist working for a French newspaper and I'm trying to reach you in order to discuss your games about the war in Ukraine. I've just sent you an invite on LinkedIn so I can give you more details. :)

Wow, glad you've enjoyed my game!

And thanks for reaching out.  I'm not much of a LinkedIn person, as you can see, but I'll check your message.

Pretty cool game! I really enjoyed playing it, even if it's very simple for now :)

Thanks for playing! Glad you've liked my game )

What would you say you've enjoyed the most while playing? I'm curious because I'm thinking about how to develop this project further and what sorts of things people find interesting in the game right now.
